Evaluation boards

BenchPod v3 boards (silkscreen "BenchPod v3-r1", "BenchPod v3-Digital" and "BenchPod v3r2-Digital") are prototype evaluation units. We lend them free of charge to companies for evaluation in a lab, under the evaluation unit loan agreement. They are not for sale or resale.

  • EU and UK: custom-built evaluation kits for professionals at a research and development facility. Not CE or UKCA marked.
  • US: used as test equipment in a lab (47 CFR 15.103(c)), not authorized by the FCC for sale. v3 boards contain the Wi-Fi module ESP32-C3-MINI-1, FCC ID 2AC7Z-ESPC3MINI1.
  • At the end of the loan, the board comes back to us and we recycle it.

REACH: substances of very high concern

Information under Article 33 of the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 for BenchPod v3 evaluation boards:

The boards contain lead (CAS 7439-92-1, EC 231-100-4), a substance on the REACH Candidate List, above 0.1 % by weight in these components:

  • brass RF connectors (SMA, analog board only)
  • Schottky and TVS diodes (lead in the internal solder, all boards)
  • one thick-film resistor (analog board only)
  • possibly the Wi-Fi module (ESP32-C3-MINI-1, all v3 boards)

The lead is bound inside these components and is not released in normal use. No special measures are needed. Do not open the components, and return the board to us or dispose of it as electronic waste, not with household waste. To our knowledge no other Candidate List substance is above 0.1 % in any component.

The next BenchPod version is designed without these lead-containing parts.

RoHS

Supplier documentation shows that every component on the v3 boards meets the EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by (EU) 2015/863, some through these Annex III exemptions:

Analog board (v3-r1)

6(c) lead in copper alloy, 7(a)-I lead in high-melting solder, 7(c)-I lead in glass or ceramic

Digital boards (v3, v3r2)

7(a)-I, 7(c)-I

The printed circuit boards have a lead-free finish. The product will have a signed EU declaration of conformity, published on this page.
